The car wash industry doesn’t receive the media coverage of many other, larger and “flashier” markets but in many ways it’s just as lucrative and its owners and customers crave information to make better decisions just like in any other. We hope to change that by providing a snappy, quick daily read in your email inbox that highlights all areas of the car wash industry – from market trends to new technology, best practices, interviews with industry leaders and input from consumers.
About Us

Our Experts to Behind CW Daily News

Jim Utter was born in upstate New York but his family moved to Charlotte, NC, when he was a teenager and he’s lived in the area ever since. He’s seen the birth of The Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Football Club as Charlotte has transformed into a major U.S. city, in terms of sports and industry. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in criminal justice and journalism from UNC Charlotte and a master’s in liberal arts studies from UNC Greensboro. His entire professional career has been spent as a journalist, working in multiple areas (local news, business, sports, travel) at The Charlotte (NC) Observer and covering motorsports for nearly 10 years with Motorsport.com. He joined CW Daily News in November 2024.
“I’ve always poured myself into my job but have tried to stop and appreciate the scenery along the way. I would never have traveled to so many different places – from a college football bowl game in Hawaii to a basketball tournament in the Virgin Islands to watching a NASCAR race inside the LA Memorial Coliseum – were it not for journalism. It has been quite a demanding yet rewarding profession. Now, I find altering the landscape and opening new doors (and less going in circles) very appealing.”
