A new report from industry leader Research and Markets about on-demand car wash services shows continued expected global growth in the industry fueled in part by advances in technology.
According to a summary of the report, “On-demand Car Wash Services Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis by Type, Package, Service Location, and Region, 2024-2030”, the value of the global on-demand car wash service industry is expected to reach $33.95 billion by the year 2030.
That growth comes with an expected annual growth rate of 6.1 percent from 2024 to 2030. Estimated global market value for the year 2023 was an estimated $22.72 billion.
The research also showed several contributing factors to the anticipated growth, with one of the main reasons being advancements in technology.
In the car wash industry, technology comes in many forms – automation, robotics, use of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as the numerous devices and parts connected to the Internet.
The increase in use of smartphones and mobile applications has made it easier for consumers to access and schedule services and provided owners with quicker and less costly ways to service customers and operate their businesses.
Smart technology in the delivery of car washes can include such things as the ability to adjust water pressure during a wash, selecting the best soap mix or utilizing the right cleaning brushes based on such factors as a car’s make, model or even dirt level.
Increased use of technology also brings some challenges.
As with all technology, protecting consumer’s data becomes paramount and investment (at least in the short term) in new technologies might be cost-prohibitive for small to medium-sized car wash operators.
Among the other factors instrumental in planned industry growth are continued urbanization (producing higher population densities); the growth of the subscription-based model which can tailor to an individual customer’s needs and schedule; and improvements in service quality, which comes from operators’ use of higher-quality cleaning products and investment in more modern equipment.
Positive feedback from satisfied customers, whether from on-line reviews or through word-of-mouth recommendations, continues to help push the increases in on-demand services.
The report also found:
- Basic on-demand car wash service held the largest market share due to consumers’ preference of a basic package that offers essential cleaning services at a lower cost.
- The North American market held the largest revenue share and is expected to retain its dominance due to its high rate of urbanization and still-growing number of vehicle owners.
