SunCar Technology Group, a cloud-based provider of digitalized enterprise auto services based in Shanghai, China, announced this week it had secured a lucrative contract with Walmart China to provide car wash services for its Sam’s Club members.
Under the contract, worth $6.8 million, SunCar will deliver premium car wash services for Sam’s Club members across 17 Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Changsha, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Zhuhai.
The contract, valued at approximately 49 million RMB, builds upon over a year of existing partnership between SunCar and Walmart.
Walmart China’s budget for the contract is approximately 49 million RMB. The collaboration builds on over a year of partnership between SunCar Technology and Walmart.
Walmart’s decision to award this contract comes from its confidence in SunCar’s advanced platform technology, efficient service processes, and consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.
“We are honored to be entrusted by Walmart China to provide premium services to their distinguished Sam’s Club members,” said Ye Zaichang, Chairman and CEO of SunCar.
“We will focus on delivering a seamless, convenient, and high-quality car wash experience, further enhancing the value of the Sam’s Club Premium Membership while strengthening our presence in the automotive after-market services segment.
“Looking ahead, we will work diligently to expand this collaboration to include additional service categories beyond traditional automotive after-services, catering to evolving customer needs.”
Sam’s Club’s premium membership in China has shown considerable, with their stores typically located in cities where car ownership is highest. The selection of cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou targets affluent consumers who prioritize quality service.
Founded in 2007, SunCar is looking to transform the customer experience with auto services and insurance in China, the largest passenger vehicle market in the world.
The partnership positions SunCar at the intersection of two powerful trends: the rise of premium membership models in China and the growing demand for professional car care services.
Walmart has been at the forefront of retail modernization in China since 1996, when it opened a hypermarket and Sam’s Club in Shenzhen. It now serves customers through nearly 400 stores and clubs as well as multiple e-commerce platforms.
